The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent international organisation based in Oaxaca, Mexico and its Swedish council is situated in Uppsala. FSC was established in Toronto in September 1993 following an initiative from representatives for environmental organisations, forestry, native peoples organisations and ecolabelling organisations from 25 different countries. FSC promotes responsible forestry from an environmental, financial and social standpoint and acts as a voluntary accreditation programme for organisations and companies that deal with forestry certification.

KRAV was founded in 1985 to create a credible ecolabelling of organic produce and to make it easier for consumers to make a contribution to the environment through their daily purchases. The KRAV label is a well known ecolabel and certifies that production is free from pesticides and herbicides, that animals are treated well and are allowed outdoors and that no gene modified organisms have been added in the production.
